Historical Information
Petite Lake was formed by Wisconsin glacier melting thousands of years ago. Originally inhabited by Miami, Mascouten, and Potawatomi tribes.
European explorers Joliet and Marquette passed through the Chain O Lakes region in 1673. The lake became part of the popular retreat destination for Chicagoans starting in the 1890s.
